LOW-COST HOUSING PROJECT

Chembong, Rembau, Negeri Sembilan

In support of the governmental policies of its adoptive country, Malaysia, the Goldhill Group, through Global Force Sdn Bhd, participated in a competition in December 1994 to design and build 301 units of low cost houses for a project to be located in Chembong, Rembau, Negeri Sembilan.  The Group won the competition and was awarded the project in September 1995.  Working on the development commenced in November 1995, the project was completed by April 1997; ahead of schedule.   Among the award winning features are:

  • an efficiently designed 3 rooms single storey home with a generous built-up area of approximately 560 square feet well in access of the required minimum of 512 square feet with the corresponding increase in the cost borne by the Goldhill Group;
  • a pitched roof design that provides good cross-flow ventilation;
  • a washroom with separate toilet and bath areas;
  • a frontage of 22 feet instead of the standard 20 feet with the developer bearing the increased infrastructure cost;
  • a proven load bearing system based on British standards.

In keeping with its philosophy of supporting the Government and contributing to society, the Group absorbed a significant amount of the cost of the project and has not asked for any other project to recover such contribution and profit from its actions.
